Re-elect Sarah (Heath) Thompson

I have lived in Avon for over 30 years. I was born and raised in Avon and am a third generation “Avonite”—my father was also raised in Avon and my grandfather was the Chief of Police. My children attend Roaring Brook School. I attended Avon Public Schools K-12 and currently serve on the Avon Board of Education, where I am proud to be a voice for all people and families in our community, with a specific interest in equity issues and student health and safety.

I have taught PreK through 8th grade in many settings, including at Roaring Brook School. I led the Avon/Hartford student tutoring initiative at Avon High School, ran an urban community arts education program after college, and am deeply involved with ShopBlackCT - a volunteer initiative I founded that amplifies local Black-owned businesses.

In my current full-time work, I am the Senior Marketing & Communications Director for The Village for Families & Children. As a long-time Avon resident, Avon educator and Avon parent I am able to bring perspective from many viewpoints. Over the next four years I look forward to being a voice for those who need it most and continuing conversations that are catalysts for progress and action in Avon.
