Elect Suzanne Szekeres

I was born and raised in Philadelphia and moved to Avon, Connecticut in February of 2016 with my husband and 3 children. 

I have 2 daughters (22, 16) and a son (20) all of whom went to and/or graduated from Avon Public Schools. Over the past 20 years I was involved in volunteering for numerous activities related to school activities for my children and their respective schools.

I am a certified and licensed Speech and Language Pathologist with 24 years experience working in both public schools and charter schools. I have spent the majority of my career working with children with various communication differences in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Health Policy Administration from Penn State University and a Masters of Arts Degree in Communication Sciences from The College of New Jersey.

I have been involved with the Avon DTC for the past 6 years and have served as an active member for 4 years. I also served as a Delegate for Avon at the State Democratic Caucus in 2022. I have been a Delegate for many local caucuses over the past 4 years. 

I care deeply about the importance of a quality education and the needs of both students and teachers.
