Re-Elect Dan Polhamus

A seven year resident of Avon, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve Avon for the past four years on the Town Council - two of those years as Chairman.

With my wife, Jaime, I have three children. Two are currently in Avon schools.  We are an active foster family and treasure the diversity that the program has added to our lives.

I earned a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics and am a principal scientist at a biomedical research consulting group that specializes in data-driven strategic decision making.

In my spare time, I am an avid tennis player and frequent cyclist. I consider quality recreation facilities and programming as critical pillars to public health, and will continue to increase access to these in Avon.

Why I’m Running

This outgoing council has been incredibly productive.  We have moved the needle in a big way with regards to righting our public safety infrastructure.  We have secured funding for, implemented, and initiated significant planning for major connectivity improvements. We have  encouraged community openness and togetherness through boosting/directing funds to our recreation facilities and programming.  We have moved to encourage strategic growth in our housing as it fits Avon, aiming to protect our open spaces while adding much-needed affordable housing.  Much of what we’ve been able to accomplish will come to be realized as major improvements to life in Avon.

What most excites me, however, is the groundwork we’re laying for continued progress in the next few years; we are reimagining a connected, diverse, and energized community.

Having the right people in place (appointed and elected) has been, and will continue to be, absolutely critical to the continued mission of progress.  I look forward to serving Avon for another term and continuing to strengthen our position as one of the premiere places to raise a family and call “home” in the country.

Thank you for voting Dan Polhamus for Avon Town Council on Nov. 7.
