Elect Mike Guerrera

My name is Michael Guerrera and I'm thrilled to be representing the Democratic Party in running for Board of Assessment Appeals. My wife Haleigh and I moved to Avon in the summer of 2019 and have loved every second of our time in town. 

I'd be remiss without talking about my family. On June 9, 2022, we gave birth to our first child, Rory. Our sweet little boy was born very early and very little and heartbreakingly passed away after six days. Our Avon community was tremendously supportive. Out of that tragedy, I gained perspective on what was really important in life. I decided I want to make an impact in the town that Haleigh and I see ourselves calling home for quite some time as we grow our family. We want it to be the special place for everyone that it is for us. 

Haleigh has been involved in the town prior to my service and I would not be here without her inspiring volunteerism. In January 2022, I was appointed by the Democratic Town Committee to the Avon Clean Energy Commission. Since then, we have done significant work to create initiatives that drive a cleaner, more environmentally-friendly Avon. This includes our current work to establish a Clean Energy Plan through 2025 with long-term goals beyond that timeline.

I'm a double-Husky, receiving my journalism degree and MBA from UConn. I am a Vice President at the public relations firm, Sloane & Company, based out of New York City after a previous career in the broadcast news industry. I play drums in a band, Home By Ten, love to fly fish, love Connecticut having lived in the Hartford area my whole life, and am here to support all the amazing candidates we have running across the ticket.
